What inspired you to make music?

“It’s hard to understand what really inspired me to make music, but we can take a few steps back.

From an early age, my parents and my older sister listened to music, of the most diverse genres, from classical to grunge.

In my parents’ house there was an upright piano that my sister played and at 10/11 I touched my first notes. Shortly after I started studying piano and music, but as a kid studying is pretty boring, so after a year or two I dropped out of lessons.

After a short time I received an electric bass as a gift from my cousin and I started strumming it, but also this time it didn’t last long. 

A few years later, around the age of 13, passionate about rock, punk and grunge, I “discovered” the guitar, which I studied for a few years, and then gave up that too, deconcentrated by adolescent lightness.

But it doesn’t end there; at the age of 15/16, passionate about urban, hip-hop and club culture, I bought two turntables and started doing events as an hip-hop and house music dj.

It’s right at this moment that I started to feel the need to create my own music, so I approached the world of production, producing different genres, with different aliases, up to a more mature concept and taste, which I found in lofi hip-hop and chill music, which encompasses all my musical taste and my essence.

I’m not a pioneer, but I started making lofi music when the genre was nascent and catching on, between 2017/2018. 

So, going back to your question, what perhaps really inspired me to make music is the love of music.

I’m a very introspective and solitary person, so through my music and my titles I try to communicate my emotions to the whole world.”

How would you describe the music you create?

My music is certainly very introspective, sweet, calming and above all intimate.

My concept of music revolves around experimentation and the continuous search for new sounds and tastes.

The genres that have influenced me and still influence me the most are definitely hip-hop, classical music and most of all, r&b.

The things that inspire me the most are those of everyday life, the little things, the simple things, loneliness, introspection, self-criticism, fragility and sensitivity, so inevitably my music revolves around all of this.”

How does your family and friends support your music?

“My family supports and appreciates my music. The same goes for my friends, although I admit that I have very few by choice.

Many acquaintances, even out of envy, despise and ignore what I do, but it interests me little, because my audience is elsewhere. Thanks to the internet and music streaming, you can aim beyond the borders of your city or country. In fact, to date, I’ve surpassed 100 million streams on major music streaming platforms.”

What is your Stage name, and Government name?

“Currently my stage name and my real name coincide: Eugenio Izzi.

I’ve used various aliases in my past, but I’ve realized that nothing represents me more than my real name.

At the moment I also have other more or less active projects, with different aliases.”

Where is your birth place?

“I was born in a small town in Italy.
I have thought several times about moving and I have had various opportunities, but the silence, the peace and the slow rhythms of my city make me master of my time and my life. I couldn’t live anywhere else but on a desert island.”

Where do you see yourself five 5 years from now in the future, in the music industry?

“At the moment, in 2023, I have been in music full-time for about three years and I am very happy with where I am, but I still have a long way to go and a lot more to communicate and learn.

I don’t know exactly where I see myself in five years, I don’t have great expectations, but I hope to be able to continue what I’m doing.

I have many other parallel musical projects that I want to complete. 

What I would like in the future is the possibility of continuing to make music, without compromise.”
