Chilled Sundays™ - The Story Behind the Project
Chilled Sundays™ was born from something very simple: the need to slow down.
Before being a project, Chilled Sundays™ is a way of experiencing music. It was born from my curiosity, from the search for new sounds and my passion for vinyl, but above all from the pleasure of taking the time to listen without rushing.
I am a musician, and over the years my musical journey has always been driven by curiosity. Digging for records, discovering artists, and listening to something I had never heard before: all of this has naturally become part of my creative process.
Vinyl, however, added something different.
Putting a record on the turntable means stopping for a few minutes. Choosing what to listen to, taking the record out of its sleeve, cleaning it, placing it on the turntable, lowering the needle, and waiting for the music to begin.
They are simple gestures, but they have a completely different rhythm from the one we are used to.
The Birth of Chilled Sundays™
In 2024, I started developing Chilled Sundays™ with the idea of turning this way of experiencing music into something I could share.
I didn’t simply want to create another series of DJ sets.
I wanted to create a moment.
A moment where music could once again have the time it needs to be truly listened to.
From this idea, Chilled Sundays™ was born: a series of live-recorded music sessions, primarily on vinyl, built around warm, relaxed, and timeless sounds.
The name comes from this very feeling.
Sunday represents that moment of the week when, at least ideally, we can slow down. There is not necessarily something to achieve, no urgency, no productivity to prove.
You can simply put on a record and listen to it.
Chilled Sundays™ is about bringing that feeling into the other days of the week too.
More Than a DJ Set
Every session begins as a genuine listening experience.
The music is selected and mixed live, without trying to hide everything that makes vinyl different from a perfectly polished digital format.
Small imperfections, crackles, pauses, record changes, and physical gestures all become part of the experience.
That is precisely what interests me.
Vinyl isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t need to be.
Its imperfections become texture. Pauses become breath. The act of changing a record becomes part of the music.
That is why Chilled Sundays™ is not simply a collection of tracks or a filmed playlist.
It is an experience built around sound, but also around the way that sound is experienced.
The Sound
There is no single genre that defines Chilled Sundays™.
The selections can move through Lo-fi and Chillhop, Jazz, Soul, Funk, Rap, R&B, Neo-Soul, and anything else that can contribute to a particular atmosphere.
The common thread is not so much the genre, but the feeling.
I look for music capable of creating warm, intimate, and timeless atmospheres. Music that can accompany a Sunday afternoon, a quiet evening, a moment of work, or simply a few minutes away from the noise of everyday life.
In this sense, Chilled Sundays™ is first and foremost a State of Mind.
A slower side of hip-hop culture.
Chilled Sundays™ comes from a culture where music has always been more than something to consume.
DJing, digging for records, collecting, sampling, sharing music, and turning everyday objects into part of the ritual have all shaped the culture that surrounds hip-hop.
Chilled Sundays™ explores that culture from a different pace: the quieter moments, the deeper listening, and the everyday rituals that happen around the music.
The Value of Time
We live in a time when everything seems to need to be faster.
More content. More music. More information. More things to see and do.
Chilled Sundays™ was born almost in opposition to this logic.
Not because speed is necessarily a problem, but because I believe there is still value in doing things slowly.
Listening to a record from beginning to end, paying attention to a song. Letting one track finish before starting another. Watching a needle travel across a record.
They are small things, but they can completely change the way we experience music.
From Sound to Objects
Over time, Chilled Sundays™ has started to become something more than a series of DJ sets.
The same philosophy behind the music has also begun to influence the objects, design, photography, and the way the project itself is presented.
This is where the Capsules came from: a collection of objects conceived not simply as merchandise, but as a physical extension of the Chilled Sundays™ world.
Everyday objects, small accessories, and pieces connected to vinyl culture and relaxation, designed with the same attention to detail and simplicity that I look for in the music sessions.
Objects for Slow Living.
Because if Chilled Sundays™ is about a different way of listening, it can also be about a different way of experiencing the objects around us.
What Chilled Sundays™ Means Today
Today, Chilled Sundays™ has become a project that brings together music, vinyl, imagery, and design.
But at its core, it remains rooted in the same idea it was born from.
Slow down.
Give music the time it deserves to be heard.
Pay attention to the details.
And create a space where time can, even for just an hour, move at a different pace.
You don’t have to wait for Sunday. You can simply put on a record and take your time.
